Supernatural Brownies

Well, I think I may have started a search for the best brownie recipes around. There are just too many for me to settle with just one. So you can expect more brownie posts in the future, but I don't think it's a bad thing, who doesn't like brownies?

On to the brownie of the moment! This brownie has quite a name to live up to. It has gotten a lot of hype and great reviews. The recipe has been featured in nytimes.com as one of top three brownie recipes. I have even read that they were the perfect brownies.

Rosemary Cornbread

You know how sometimes you just happen to stumble upon a recipe, when you weren't even looking? Well, that's what happened to me with this bread. I was just checking my email when all of a sudden Martha Stewart sends me this recipe, which is very nice of her (I'm on the emailing list). I love cornbread, and this is a recent development. I use to not care for it when my mom made, which happened about once a year. But this year something changed, and I grew very fond of this yellow soft yet crunchy bread.

Black & White Angels Food Cake

One thing I love is discovering completely new kinds of desserts. I feel a little dessert ignorant now, because I didn't know Angel's Food Cake exists, until I had one at family friends recently. Immediately, I was impressed by the incredible light texture of the cake, that can only be due to a lot of whipped egg whites. Of course I've made Devil's Food Cake, so I was excited to learn about the rival! When I was searching for a recipe, I came across one on the Food Network. The recipe combines chocolate in the cake, which is perfect.

Cinnamon Rolls

About a year ago I was visiting my aunt and uncle in Montana, and one Friday morning we went to a farmers market. It was amazing buying all the fresh food, but I distinctly remember seeing a baked goods station and being drawn to it (no surprise there!). I ended up buying a cinnamon roll, and it was so good and so fresh. Ever since then I've been meaning to bake my own version of a cinnamon roll. Finally I had some time yesterday morning, so I decided to go for it. I found the recipe on Joy Of Baking, and went straight to work. to tell you the truth, I think part of the reason I've been delaying is because I thought it would be too much effort. But it really wasn't that hard, it just takes some time because of the rising process. I did however research youtube on the exact way to roll and cut the dough.

The Ultimate Brownie (aka the fudgy brownie)

I know my last post was a brownie as well, but I couldn't help myself, I've got brownie fever. I also used my friend's birthday as an excuse to bake another batch of brownies (she didn't complain!). Anyway, I think I've made myself clear when I said that fudgy brownies are my favorite. But I have something even better. *drum roll please* A fudgy brownie with a crackly shiny top! Am I right?

Chewy Brownies

This week I bought a new brownie pan, because I was using a glass pan and I read that the heat from glass can cause over baking. Now I have an explanation for why my brownies edges were always a lot dryer than the middle. Needless to say I was very excited to try the new pan, but I had to find a recipe. I saw the chewy brownie on Brown Eyed Baker and is originally from Cook's Illustrated. I've never really made a chewy brownie, I prefer mine fudgy. You may ask yourself, what on earth is she talking about? A brownie is a brownie - what is the difference? here is my answer: a chewy brownie is very moist and dense, but not gooey like the fudgy brownie.

Oreo Cupcakes

I wanted to tell you about a little new feature I added to the blog - a printer friendly button below each post. Now you can print the recipes a lot easier. It gives you the option of deleting whatever part of the post you don't want to print (such as my ongoing rambling).

So on to the main subject. Let me introduce to you these adorable and yummy cupcakes - OREO CUPCAKES. Can you believe it? a cupcake that's all about almost everyone's favorite cookie. I was so excited when I saw the recipe on annies-eats.com! I couldn't wait to make the cupcakes.

The Ultimate Cheesecake

I have mentioned in a previous post that my sister came back last week after a backpacking trip in Cambodia & Vietnam. Well one of the first things she said to me (after hi and I missed you) was - CAN YOU MAKE ME A CHEESECAKE?. I agreed, and then started the hunt for a cheesecake recipe. I probably could have picked a bad recipe and she wouldn't know the difference, I mean shes been hungry for yummy foods for a while... But either way, I found this recipe on the Food Network and it seemed like it would be perfect. The blueberries topping is beautiful. I read a lot of the reviews on the site and it seemed like everyone really loved this cake. So I decided to give it a try, and Sure enough, the recipe was a huge success!

Molasses Cookies

I have been going through the blog, and noticed all these posts from a long time ago that I feel are quite messy and the pictures are very unclear (I'm still not the best at pictures, but I have improved a lot...). So I've decided to try and organize everything a bit, which means old posts may get deleted, but will probably be re-posted eventually. Anyway, I do have a recipe for you - Molasses Cookies. I think molasses gives baked goods a very unique flavor, and these cookie are no exception. They are great and were eaten up very fast! The recipe is so easy you can have fresh cookies in a half an hour. Sounds tempting doesn't it?

Chocolate Chip Pudding Cookies

So after a long never ending week I finally got to this cookie recipe. I have a folder with all the "future recipes" that I want to try. I had an excuse to make cookies - my sister just got back from a trip to Vietnam & Cambodia. Anyway, I have heard great things about adding instant pudding to the batter, but to tell you the truth, I have know idea what it actually does.
All I know is the cookies are everything they should be: chewy, thick and amazing. I did change the sugar measurements to 1/2 cup light brown sugar and 1/2 cup granulated sugar. I also used vanilla pudding though the original recipe says to use butterscotch pudding. I think this recipe will become my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe!

Cinnamon Bread (Cake)

I am sure you have noticed the new layout I created for the blog. What do you think? I suddenly was inspired after seeing an old baking ad. I thought to myself how cool would it be if I could find a lot more ads and combine them into one? so I let google do the searching and found some really great ones. The ads are very different than what they are now.
Anyway, Every now and again I find a recipe that is very misleading. For example this "Cinnamon Bread" recipe is not bread. It is definitely a cake. I don't know why who ever decided to call it bread, thought that was appropriate, but enough of this ranting. The cake is delicious, there is no doubt about that. I love cinnamon in most things, so this was a perfect recipe. The middle part was so good I couldn't stop eating it! Be prepared for a sugar overload with this one...
