Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie

No, you are not dreaming, you read correctly. I made a chocolate. chip. cookie. PIE.

Ile Flottante with Caramel

A couple of months ago I purchased my first copy of Martha Stewart living magazine. This might seem odd, since I am a baking addict, and that magazine (among many other food magazines) is basically food-porn. But I have an excellent reason - It costs here about 11 dollars for one issue. It really sucks, because I would love to buy all the magazines. I must choose, and I choose glamour and cosmo, which are my guilty pleasure!
Anyway, back to Martha. I bought the February issue, because I couldn't resist the title: DREAMY CHOCOLATE DESSERTS. Surprisingly it wasn't the chocolate that caught my eye, but this beautiful meringue floating on a sea caramel. I do love some caramel.

Banana Espresso Chocolate Chip Muffins

I am becoming a bake-by-the-order baker in my house! I'm getting all these personal requests for baked goods. A few days ago it was the rye rolls, and today my sister wanted banana chocolate chip muffins. But who am I kidding? I am not complaining, quite the opposite... I'm loving it!

I found this recipe, which got great reviews. But unfortunately I didn't have any espresso powder (nor did I know what it was), so I just replaced with fine ground coffee. I was a bit worried that I had done something terrible, because my muffins browned really fast. But thankfully they were still really soft and oh-so-moist (thank you bananas!). I am placing the blame on my silicon pan as the cause for the muffins getting a little too dark. Has anyone had that happen before?

Anyway, all is well, because the muffins still turned out great!

Rye Rolls

I am in such a bread baking phase ever since I bought this new bread recipe book. Nobody can resist warm homemade bread, right?

My dad is on a new blood-type-diet or something like that, and has a list of what is good and bad for his specific blood type. Apparently rye flour is what type A should be eating (oat flour, rice flour and corn flour as well). So this morning I got a request to make bread for him. I found in my new book a recipe for rye rolls, and got really excited because I have never made rolls before! I mean, you could make rolls out of any bread, but I just never have.

The rolls were a huge success. They are so good and so healthy, that you don't feel bad about spreading a huge chunk of butter on them (hey, I'm not on a diet!).

Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies

Today is one of my favorite holidays, purim, which is celebrated by dressing up in a costume and having a feast (of course!). We made about 6 different pizzas, onion soup, split-pea soup and a lot of salads. It was absolutely delicious!

The dessert I made has been very popular among food blogs, and I thought it was perfect for purim. I mean, it is basically an oreo dressed up as a chocolate chip cookie. It took people a while to get the connection (I thought it was obvious hehe), but the cookies were devoured. I don't know who came up with the outrageous idea of stuffing an oreo inside a cookie, but he/she is brilliant!

Whole Grain Bread

A couple of days ago I was at the mall waiting to be picked up. Of course my sister was late so I walked into Office Depot. To my surprise they had a small selection of cooking books, so I had some entertainment to pass time. One book caught my eye - it was a bread recipe book with lovely photos. The book had such great recipes! I mean, I basically wanted to make all of them. I think it was one of those books that went unnoticed, because the price was so low, 30 shekels, which is about 8 dollars. I knew I would regret it if I didn't buy the book...

When I choose the first recipe to make out of cookbook, that recipe makes or breaks the book for me. If I don't like what I've made it will forever disappoint me. Does this happen to you too?
So this is why I was very careful when choosing the first bread recipe to bake. I wanted something healthy and delicious (don't we all??). The whole grain bread recipe sounded great, so I went to the health-food store and got all the awesome healthy ingredients and went to work.

Mile High Chocolate Cake

I can't believe believe it has been 10 days since my last post. That has never happened! I guess life got in the way of baking, but I have something amazing for you.

First of all it is my birthday today. Ahhh! I turned 21! and I should probably feel all grown up, but I don't. I still get excited for presents, candles and most of all - THE CAKE. I actually spotted this recipe a few weeks ago, and bookmarked it straight away. I knew it would be my birthday cake. I think this cake is the ultimate birthday celebration cake! It is so moist with delicious chocolate frosting layers, but most of all it is tall. I mean it is the tallest cake I have ever made (mile high was the first clue). It can feed a lot of people! I have a small stand mixer, so it could barely contain all the cake batter. I had some pink swiss meringue buttercream leftover from a different cake, so I used it in the middle. It looked pretty and balanced out all the chocolate!

The result was wonderful, but most importantly I got to spend the day with my family and got awesome presents

Oatmeal Muffins

This is my favorite oatmeal muffins recipe! The muffins are delicious, moist and spiced really well. The great part is you can whip them up as soon as you get a craving - they are that easy. As far as healthy baked goods, this is as close as I get. The muffins are made with yogurt and oil so they are basically healthy!

I don't think you will hear any complaints if you bake the muffins...
